PRINCE LOUIS OF CAMBRIDGE
A second son to TRH The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge 

On 23rd April 2018 (St George's Day) at 11.01am - Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge (b.1982), the wife of Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge (b.1982) - eldest son and heir of Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales (b.1948), gave birth to their third child (and second son) at The Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London.

 

Kensington Palace announced on 27th April 2018 that the child would be named 'Louis Arthur Charles' and styled HRH Prince Louis of Cambridge.  He was named Louis after Mountbatten (the child's great-great-great uncle).

The official announcement of the birth of Prince Louis of Cambridge ​

From birth, Louis was born a Prince of the United Kingdom with the style of Royal Highness and is the first British Prince to be ranked after an elder sister in the line of succession to the Throne, following the Perth Agreement 2011 and the Succession to the Crown Act 2013.  He is currently 5th in the line of succession to the Throne.

On 9th July 2018, Prince Louis was christened in the Chapel Royal, St James's Palace, London by The Most Rev & Rt Hon. Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury (b.1956).  Louis' god-parents are -

  • Nicholas van Cutsem (b.1977), the son of Hugh van Cutsem (1941-2013)

​

  • Guy Pelly (b.1982), the son of John Pelly (1938-2015) and a great-great-great grandson of Sir Henry Tate, Bt. (1819-1899), co-founder of Tate & Lyle sugar company and who established The Tate Gallery

​

  • Harry Aubrey-Fletcher (b.1982), the son of Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, Bt. (b.1945), Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire

​

  • The Lady Laura Meade (b.1984), the daughter of Julian, 8th Earl of Romney (b.1948).  Her husband - James, the son of Olympic equestrian Richard Meade (1938-2015), is a god-father to Princess Charlotte of Cambridge

​

  • Mrs Hannah Gillingham Carter, whose sister-in-law  - Sophie Carter (b.1984), is a god-mother to Princess Charlotte of Cambridge

  • Miss Lucy Middleton, a first cousin to The Duchess of Cambridge
